So while it wasn't more popular in terms of sales (which is what I was originally trying to say in my first message in terms of people accessing the titles) there's more to praise for how they improved, especially if we're comparing to adding a girl and cleaning up some of the glitches. In terms of sales, BtN brought in 116k to 64's 93k. They were by and large the exception though, most of the ones that opened up as secondary titles didn't do as good. I remember the lag more on ToT than I do with AP - I also know I only need one particular seasonal item for AP's bells whereas I seem to remember a lot more moving parts on getting things in the right season for ToT. I think ToT's biggest fall was it felt clunkier and things were a lot more season oriented for the bells. Nintendo is a great console and 64 was arguably a strong entry, but I think the numbers came down a lot to having a bigger audience due to Sony's reach. Just like Special Edition being limited to PS2 for AWL despite the other two titles being GC only. The cast was fun and diverse and I love the setting.īack to Nature I think had the benefit on Playstation, which opened it up to a lot of western players too. It's up there as my top pick for games that deserve a remake because I think the QoL changes would help it do much better this time. But it deviated a little too far for what most people wanted from the series, I think. I personally loved it - I enjoy the fact they always try something new to keep the mechanics interesting and while they could've explained it better, it was a fun mechanic (and I also personally enjoy the titles that push you to interact or people leave). You have very unique mechanics in the point system, the moving in/moving out aspects can be frustrating to some who play the game to relax, not keep a running track of who you talked to each month. (Even good secondary games, usually the girl versions, never do as well despite fixing many glitches or errors the boy/first versions tended to have). So IoH is the one people usually get and judge on, SI wasn't picked up because of the lackluster response to IoH. The secondary games tend to fare less compared to the first in that gen's line of games.
